Two One-Act Scripts
"Polly Ann Wants A . . . "
by
Rebecca Burroughs
Polly Ann struggles to reconnect her self-absorbed, divided family before she leaves home.
However, every time she gets them gathered in the “family” room her African gray parrot squawks out
someone’s desperate secret. What eventually draws this family together are their farcical attempts to kill
the avian Machiavelli. But a ceiling fan, arsenic apple seeds and a plastic bag all fail to do him in.
Instead of defeat, each member of the family discovers that their revealed
secrets have actually brought unexpected sympathy and nonjudgmental love.
